Aquila is a classically trained string quartet band featuring some of Perth’s most prestigious musicians – bonded by a passion for performance.
Led by first violinist Rachael Aquilina, Aquila set out to change what a night out to see a string quartet can look, sound and feel like – from the Beatles to Gotye and Metallica to Amy Winehouse.
The members of Aquila have spent most of their lives refining their chops on the likes of Bach, Beethoven and Mozart – only listening to and playing more contemporary music as a fan or as a hired gun, never truly exploring the potential of applying their passion to the greatest songs written this side of the millennia.
Add one of Perth’s most respected drummers and you have an idea of how cool the best songs of the last 50 years can sound – rethought and rearranged on instruments that have ruled music for 500.
A unique combination of String Quartet and Drummer. Smaller ensembles – Quartet, Trio or Duo – can also be provided.
